66 Years Strong... and Counting

The BBSA began in 1952 as the Burlington Little League.  It was founded by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to provide a baseball program for young boys.  Originally, there were four teams, but over the years with alot of hard work and dedication, we have since grown into a program for all youth in Burlington.  In 1997 we changed our name to Burlington Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA), in order to include baseball, softball and the Babe Ruth Program.  We are a non-profit organization serving over 1,000 families (over 1,400 children ages 5-18) each year with boy's baseball and girl's softball.  Each year we have over 80 baseball and softball teams with each team having a Team Manager, multiple Coaches and tons of support from the parents.  We are funded entirely by registration fees and sponsor donations.  We are operated by several hundred volunteers and the volunteer spirit is very much alive today headed up by the BBSA Board Of Directors. Thank you to all of you who make this league what it is!

The BBSA is affiliated with Babe Ruth League, Inc. and the Cal Ripken Baseball Little League.  Our goals are to promote fun, good sportsmanship and personal respect.  And in doing so, we hope to instill the ability to play at one's potential, as well as a true understanding and love of the game.  Our Mission Statment can be found HERE

Each year, we measure success by smiles, but occasionally it's nice to to win a trophey or two.  In 2002, our 11 Year Old Summer Travel Baseball Team won the Massachusetts State Championship!   In 2000, our 11 Year Old Summer Travel Baseball Team won the Cal Ripken New England Championship! And, in 2010, the 10 and 12 Year Old Summer All Star Teams won the Bay State Tournament of Champions!

We also sponsor many Summer Travel Teams in the Ripken, Softball and Babe Ruth programs.  And, we have a coed In-Town Summer Baseball League which is less competitive and more relaxed.  This is a great way for players who want to play summer ball but cannot or choose not to commit themselves to an entire summer baseball schedule because of family vacation, camp, and other conflicts.  We also have Summer Softball and Fall Baseball Leagues.

We request both positive and negative feedback from all families who participate in our leagues.  As always, don't hesitate to contact BBSA anytime on any issue by sending an email to ance Baldwin.
Regards,
BBSA Board of Directors
